What is it about pike that attracts so many people to take up fishing for the ultimate freshwater predator?
Pike are often referred to as the SHARK of freshwater - or as the WATERWOLF of the aquatic jungle!
It is a fact that most newcomers to pike fishing are so frightened by the sight of a mouthful of needle sharp teeth, they simply go to jelly when their prize catch is laid out in front of them waiting to be unhooked and quickly returned to the water!
It really is a good idea to fish with an experienced pike angler, or a professional pike fishing guide, before going it alone - for the pike's sake as well as the anglers!
Over the years I have taught many hundreds of anglers how to hold and unhook pike safely.
If handled properly, pike, or any other fish come to that, will return home no worse for the experience. I bet that the anti fishing group, Pisces, will not put that on their "Useful Quotes" web site!
