For my leger rig, seen above, I glue a Roberts Leger Bead onto a 22 inch length of stiff boom tube.

I tie my weight to the Roberts Leger Bead with a small length of braid.

The line is threaded through the stiff boom tube and then tied onto the trace swivel.

Tip: To thread the braid through the tube, I use a length of heavy nylon line.

Note: Wire trace length, for all the rigs shown on this page, must be at least four inches shorter than the 22in stiff tube - i.e. to prevent a bite off.
Note: To get braided line through stiff boom tube, suck hard or use a length of 20lb plus mono line.

I have caught thousands of pike using the rigs I have featured in this pike fishing article.

My motto is, if a rig works for you and catches you plenty of fish, stick with it. I see no point in trying other rigs just for the sake of it.

Fact: Most complicated rigs take months to perfect - and still have a tendency to tangle.

My simple rigs never tangle or let me down!
